Pod Parent Purpose
The Pod Parents purpose is to match classroom volunteer opportunities with the needs of the teachers through communication, organization and openness.

  • We will seek to find ways to communicate effectively with teachers based on the teacher’s needs and preferences.
  • We will keep organized contact information of parent volunteers and preferences.
  • Will make the needed phone calls, e-mail or ect. to contact people with volunteer opportunities.
  • We will keep a communication board of up to date volunteer opportunities and calendar in a visible area of the room (with teacher input and approval)
  • We will assist in typing reminders or requests for volunteers for the weekly newsletter
  • We will reach out to new parents to help them feel welcome and included. We will offer to answer questions and be a resource for new parents by being available and proactively communicating with them.
  • We will assist parents in capturing volunteer hours. We have the flexibility to specify the way in which we would like these to be sent (E-mail, text etc.)
  • We make a 10 week commitment, the timing of which will match the trimesters of the school year.
  • If at any point we are not able to keep the commitment (due to schedule changes, life circumstances or other conflicts) we will notify the PTC Vice President so we can maintain the integrity of the program and still meet the needs of the classroom.
  • We are to facilitate communication between the parent group and the teachers not take on all the projects that need completion.
  • If something is not working we will be willing to make adjustments and get creative. We won’t give up easily and will seek help when needed.
  • We will enjoy our time getting to know parents and teachers better.
