Parent Volunteering at Woods |
Parent Contract/Volunteer ActivitiesEducation is a partnership between student, parent, school, and community. The partnership between parent and school at Woods Learning Center is unique and is an essential component of the learning experience at the school. Your support is necessary to ensure that your child receives the quality of education to which he or she is entitled. Compliance is also necessary to ensure that the staff is able to provide that same quality education to each student at Woods Learning Center. Recording Your TimePlease remember to record your volunteer time. The volunteer hour log is at the front desk next to the visitor sign-in sheet. There are instructions on the front of the log book on how to record your time. Volunteer OpportunitiesOpportunities both inside and outside school will enable inclusion of parents with a variety of schedules. Check Volunteer Opportunities for specific tasks that are routinely needed in the school. Check Volunteer Ideas for some general ideas for helping around the school. The newsletters also will have specific requests for help needed for upcoming events. And you can always check with the teachers or staff when you’re in the school. ¨ School Historian. Someone to create and maintain a scrapbook of WLC noteworthy or newsworthy happenings. Work from home on your own schedule. Materials for scrapbook provided by staff and others. ¨ Parking Lot Monitor. Someone (can be more than one person) to remind parents of expected parking lot etiquette. Requires being at the school at the end of day and willingness to tell other people what they should be doing. ¨ Staff Luncheon Coordinator. Someone to coordinate monthly staff appreciation lunches. The staff would appreciate someone with good taste. ¨ Volunteer Hours Recorder. Maintain the volunteer log book at front counter. Transfer hour totals from the book to PTC spreadsheet at least monthly, add blank sheets as needed. |
