Reading

Rigby Reading Level

AP - Reads above a level 25

P - Reads at level 20-24 with 95% accuracy

B - Reads between levels 10-18 with 90% accuracy

Sight Word knowledge

AP - Knows at least 150 words on word lists 1-8

P - Knows 90% of the 100 words on lists 1-4

B - Knows at least 50% of words on lists 1-4

Oral Reading Fluency

AP – Reads aloud unpracticed grade level text at a fluency rate of 85+ words per minute.

P – Reads aloud unpracticed grade level text at a fluency rate of 65 words per minute.

B – Reads aloud unpracticed grade level text of a fluency rate of 30 words per minute.

Writing

Fine Motor Skills

AP - Forms all letters correctly and with very nice handwriting.  Can write in dotted lines forming letters in appropriate size and relationship. Can cut with accuracy and quickness.

P - Forms most letters correctly from top to bottom and left to right.  Writes in dotted lines correctly most of the time.  Working on penmanship.  Can use scissors to cut with accuracy.

B - Working on correct formation of letters.  Letters not always formed correctly and has trouble with letter proportion in dotted lines.  Can use scissors independently.

Writing

AP – Writes at least 4 -5 ideas that go together and starting to use transitions.  Sentences have flow and do not all start the same.  Spells most words conventionally. Uses correct capitalization and punctuation.

P – Writes two or three complete thoughts that go together.  Illustrations enhance the writing.  Usually uses capitals at beginning and punctuation at end of sentences. Writes all high frequency words correctly and beginning to transition to conventional spelling of other words.

B - Writes more than one thought, but sentences not always complete.  Most sentences begin the same and have no transitions.  Writes only some high frequency words correctly and still spelling most other words inventively.

Word Write

AP - Writes 75 or more words correctly in 10 minutes

P- Writes between 60 words correctly in 10 minutes

B - Writes between 40 words correctly in 10 minutes

Writes Name

AP- Writes first, middle, and last name accurately with letters in correct proportion.

P – Writes first and last name accurately with letters in correct proportion.  Working on writing middle name.

B – Writes first name accurately with letters in correct proportion. Working on writing last name.

Speaking and Listening

Follows Directions

AP - Can follow 3 or more step directions without re-explanation

P - Can follow 1-2 step directions and 3 or more step directions with re- explanation and picture clues

B – Has trouble following 2 step directions and often needs re-explanation

Project Speaking Skills

AP - The child introduces project in a big voice and projects voice throughout presentation.  The child’s eyes are on the audience.  Presentation has a sequence and shows evidence of practice.  Answers all questions about the topic and adds humor, creativity, and imagination.

B - Child need support with speaking skills.  Voice is quiet at times and eyes not always on audience. Looks to others for some support.

AP - Student listens and responds with appropriate questions or comments.

P - Student sits and listens attentively.

B - Student has trouble listening and attending to speaker.

Math

Number and Operations

Number recognition

AP- Can read all 3 digit numbers and working on place values to 4.

P- Can read numbers 1 -100 and working on other 3 digit number values

B - Not consistently recognizing and reading all numbers to 100

Counting Assessment

AP – Can count by 1, 5, and 10 to 130, by 2 to 50 and backwards from 30

P – Can count by 1, 5, and 10 to 100, by 2 to 30 and backwards from 20

B – Can count by 1, 5, and 10 to 50, By 2 to 28 and backwards from 15

Computation

AP- Make complex connections using number sense and place value.  Demonstrate computational fluency accurately (adding to 10 and subtraction from 10).  Working toward double digit computation.

P-  Can combine single digit numbers accurately (adding to 10).  Working on subtraction from 10.

B - Working on combining single digit numbers with few errors. (adding to 10).

Number Sense and Representation

AP – Groups numbers independently and can represent numbers past 100.

P – Can represent numbers to 100 and can count up from a given number.  Understands how to count objects by grouping by 2's, 5's, and 10's.  Compares numbers and can communicate which is greater or less.

B – Can represent numbers to 21 and compares numbers 1 to 20.

Money

AP - Can add with money and count change

P - Knows the names and values of the coins and can attempt to add together.

B - Can recognize and name coins, but did not know all values.

BB - Only knows names of some coins, know no or few values.

Geometry

Sort and Classify

AP – Can sort and classify 2D and 3D shapes in 3 ways

P – Can sort and classify 2D and 3D shapes in 2 ways

B – Can sort 2D and 3D shapes in one way

Naming Shapes

AP – Knows all 2D and 3D shapes

P – Knows most 2D and 3D shapes (only misses 1-2)

B – Knows names of several 2D and 3D shapes (only misses 3-4)

Filling the Shape

AP – Students select and use pattern blocks to completely fill puzzle shape in multiple ways.  Students can also substitute blocks to complete shape.

Algebra

Creating Patterns

Number Patterns

AP – Can recognize and extend number patterns to solve a problem and find patterns on a hundreds chart.

P – Can recognize and extend common number patterns by counting by 2’s or 5’s. Can also find patterns on a hundreds chart.

B – Can recognize number patterns, but has difficulty extending them.

Measurement

Measuring Length

AP- Can estimate and measure length with non-standard units past 99.  Can measure accurately with standard units to inches and feet.

P- Can estimate and measure length with non-standard units to 99.  Working on measuring accurately with standard units to the nearest inch.

B- Can measure length with non-standard units to 99, but needs support with estimation.  Not yet able to use standard units.

Measuring Capacity

AP –

P – Can estimate and measure capacity suing non-standard units.

B – Can measure capacity with non-standard units but needs support with estimation.

Time

AP - Can tell time to the nearest 5 minutes.

P - Can tell time to nearest hour and half hour.

B - Can only tell time to nearest hour.

Data Analysis

Creating a Graph

AP – Student can create a variety of graphs or representations from a set of data.

P – Student can collect and sort information to create a representation of data.

B – Student cannot create a picture or representation from data.

Reading a Graph

AP – Student can consistently tell more or less from set of data.  Student can also use coherent and clear mathematical language to communicate actual numbers and categories of a graph.

P – Student uses mathematical language to communicate more or less from a set of data.

B – Student cannot consistently communicate which has more or less from a set of data.

Foreign Language K-1

Communication

AP – Student uses both nonverbal and verbal responses in the target language with accurate pronunciation and sentence structure to demonstrate full comprehension of vocabulary.  Student can initiate simple oral language and exchange greetings.

P – Student uses both nonverbal and verbal responses in the target language to demonstrate full comprehension of vocabulary.  Student depends on memorized vocabulary to exchange common greetings.

B – Student uses a nonverbal response or mimicry to demonstrate some comprehension of vocabulary.
