WLC Cell Phone Policy |
|
Cell phones have enhanced our lives by making communication between children and their parents more available and more immediate. But—cell phones do create special problems in school set-tings such as text messaging during class, cyber-bullying, downloading inappropriate information, and using camera options inappropriately. Please note that these are not just issues with older students, but with our younger population as well. In light of these complications, a committee of parents and teachers—with input from older students—has formulated a cell phone policy for Woods Learning Center. We ask that you help us model appropriate cell phone etiquette by silencing your cell phone when you are in the building. Thank you for your support in this matter. Cell Phone Policy for WLC. Students will be allowed to have cell phones on their persons at Woods Learning Center. However, they must be turned off (not just silenced) from the time they enter school until they leave including lunch and recesses. If there is sufficient need to make a call, permission must be secured and the preference will be given to use a classroom phone. If phones are to be used as a camera, permission must be secured for each picture and the phone shut off between pictures. The phones must remain in pockets, backpacks or bags while at school and on school sponsored activities. If a phone is seen, it will be confiscated and either returned to the student at the end of the day, or a parent may be required to pick it up. This policy may be modified and adopted as needed or with technology changes. |
